As Scented Pages Workshop grew, I became fascinated by how scent could work with music to create deeper emotional experiences. This led to the idea for Lüma, a future project combining light, music, and scent for emotional healing and creativity.
I began researching how certain essential oils can complement music, like how lavender can enhance the calm of a Chopin nocturne, or citrus can uplift the mood during a Beatles song. I tested these combinations with friends during study sessions, noticing how certain pairings helped us focus or relax.
We also experimented with playlists linked to each scent, sharing them with our customers online. One customer messaged us saying she listened to our Starry Night playlist while using the matching scent to help her relax before exams, describing it as “stepping into a painting.”
This exploration taught me how multisensory design can enhance mental well-being and creativity, and that the intersection of art, scent, and music can transform how young people engage with both classics and themselves.
Planning Lüma as a future extension of SPW allowed me to think about scalability, app development, and the potential for integrating emotional health tools into daily routines. I want to create a device that pairs scent and music to support moments of calm and inspiration, aligning with the mission of helping people reconnect with their senses in a distracted world.
This journey showed me that entrepreneurship can be about experimenting boldly, learning from each test, and designing products that don’t just sell, but heal.
