Building a Team as a Teen: Leading and Mentoring Through Scented Pages Workshop

When I founded Scented Pages Workshop, I knew I couldn’t do it alone. I reached out to friends and younger students interested in art, literature, and social media, inviting them to join the project. We formed a small, passionate team to bring our vision to life.

As the team leader, I learned to organize weekly meetings where we discussed production plans, marketing content, and customer feedback. We created a shared Google Drive to manage our tasks and inventory, and I assigned roles based on each member’s strengths— some focused on photography, others on mixing scents or writing Instagram captions.

Mentoring team members became one of the most rewarding parts of this journey. I guided a younger member on how to handle market sales, teaching them how to share the stories behind each perfume confidently while answering customer questions. Another member learned video editing to create TikTok reels, helping us test different content styles to improve our online engagement.

Leading this team also taught me to listen. When a member suggested creating a “story card” for each perfume to enhance the customer experience, we implemented it, and it quickly became one of our most-loved features at markets.

Through this process, I realized that leadership is not just about managing tasks; it is about inspiring and empowering others, building trust, and learning together. By creating a supportive environment, we grew not just as a business but as a group of young people passionate about making classics accessible in a modern, sensory-driven way.

This experience helped me discover the power of teamwork and mentorship, preparing me for future projects where I hope to continue leading with empathy and purpose.
