Our Second Market Event: Gathering Feedback and Improving Our Products

After our first successful market event, we decided to join a second local artisan fair in Vancouver to test how our new scents and packaging improvements would be received by a wider audience. We set up our booth with freshly printed “story cards,” trial strips, and QR codes linking directly to our Shopify store.

Throughout the day, I engaged customers, asking what they thought about each scent and which stories they connected with most. Some preferred the floral notes of Pride and Prejudice, while others loved the calming earthy tones inspired by Love in the Time of Cholera. We recorded over 50 detailed feedback forms, collecting data on scent preferences, price perceptions, and packaging impressions.

This feedback became crucial for our next product iterations. We learned that customers valued the emotional connection our scents provided, but they also wanted a more secure bottle cap for travel. Back at our workshop, we adjusted our packaging and refined a few scent profiles to better align with what customers loved most.

Participating in this market also taught us the importance of storytelling in person. When I shared why I created each scent, customers were more engaged and excited to make a purchase, turning our products into a piece of their own story.

We ended the day by donating a portion of our sales to a local charity for children with autism, reinforcing our mission to pair commerce with community impact.

This second market experience taught me the value of iteration and direct user engagement in entrepreneurship. It showed me that listening carefully to your customers isn’t just good business practice—it’s a way to build products that truly matter.
